Temerty Ukraine-Toronto Education & Collaboration Fund
The 2023 Application Cycle is Now Closed.
Purpose
To support health leaders in Ukraine and the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine in Canada through collaborative research and educational programs, initiatives and activities.
Examples of initiatives may include, but are not limited to:
Collaborative research or educational projects that are co-led by researchers at Temerty Medicine and in Ukraine
Capacity building trips to Ukraine led by Temerty Medicine faculty member(s)
Support for Temerty Medicine learners (medical students, clinical trainees, residents, fellows, graduate students) working on projects with demonstrated potential for impact in Ukraine
Steps to build a network of colleagues interested in a sustained relationship with Ukraine
Specific attention will be given to applications that address: orthopedic care, development of administrative skills in healthcare systems, and collaboration with the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
Projects that demonstrate scalability, efforts to attract additional funders for sustainability of the work, and that are maximizing the funds from the grants to impact the greatest number of individuals will be given priority.
Project Requirements
Project Leader:
Faculty member of Temerty Faculty of Medicine
Collaborators must be:
Citizen(s) of Ukraine, living and working in Ukraine
Member of a Ukrainian Medical Institution - MD and/or PhD at recognized Medical University/Hospital/Research Institute in Ukraine
Proficient in English language
Practicing clinician, Medical Educator, Researcher
Other Terms and Conditions
Maximum Grant: $75,000 CDN (to support up to 2 years maximum)
Applications to be submitted as one PDF package by 11:59 pm on September 30, 2023 to medicine.advancement@utoronto.ca. Late applications will not be considered.
The outcome of the competition will be announced by December 2023 and successful applicants will be notified directly.
Recipients may hold other grants and funding toward the project.
The committee will review one application per person.
Successful applicants may re-apply after two years.
There must be at least one member of the ongoing project team that has an active U of T appointment for the duration of the project. If there is a change in the appointment status for project members during the duration of the project, a collaborator from U of T must be identified.
Reporting Requirements
Upon successful receipt of a grant, the Project Lead and Collaborator will be required to submit a status report on outcomes and impact including a summary of work completed and budget reconciliation at the end of the funding period.
