Temerty Faculty of Medicine Awards

This award was given by the late Harry Sharpe in honour of Alcoholics Anonymous and is to be awarded to graduate students in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine whose studies and research are in the fields of addiction, substance abuse and/or gerontology.

Specific Eligibility of this Award: To be awarded to Temerty Faculty of Medicine graduate students who are registered in MSc or PhD degree programs studying pediatric neuroscience at the University of Toronto. General OSOTF Eligibility: Academically qualified students will be eligible to receive aid from U of T's OSOTF based on financial need. Students must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and residents of Ontario as defined in OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) guidelines.

To be awarded to domestic or international doctoral-stream graduate students (MSc/PhD) in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine doing children’s health research.

The Hosinec Family Scholarships are made up of multiple awards varying in value. They are awarded to Ontario students on the basis of need and academic merit.

The School of Graduate Studies Inclusive Excellence Admissions Scholarships for Master’s Students aims to diversify academia by supporting the recruitment of underrepresented groups, specifically first-year Black and Indigenous master’s students to PhD-stream programs (i.e. MA, MSc, MSW, MEd, MPH, and other research and professional programs that are commonly a stepping-stone to a UofT PhD program).

The University of Toronto has established the Iranian Student Memorial Scholarship Fund in honour of those who lost their lives in the crash of Ukrainian International Airlines Flight PS752, including eight members of the University of Toronto community. The Iranian Student Memorial Scholarship provides needs-based award(s) to international students from Iran (admitted to the U of T) or current U of T students, from any background, studying Iranian studies.

Specific Eligibility of this Award: To be awarded to graduate level students in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine on the basis of financial need and academic excellence. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate an involvement in basic research into the causes and treatment of peripheral nerve damage, repair and regeneration. Note: Interviews may be required at the discretion of the Selection Committee. A student may hold the award for a lifetime maximum of 3 years. General OSOTF Eligibility: Academically qualified students will be eligible to receive aid from U of T's OSOTF based on financial need. Students must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and residents of Ontario as defined in OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) guidelines.

Specific Eligibility of this Award: To be awarded on the basis of financial need to graduate students. First preference is to graduate students in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine who are doing research in the field of familial ovarian cancer; second preference is to graduate students in the Faculty of Medicine doing research in the field of ovarian cancer. Academic excellence will also be considered. General OSOTF Eligibility: Academically qualified students will be eligible to receive aid from U of T's OSOTF based on financial need. Students must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and residents of Ontario as defined in OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) guidelines.

To be awarded to Indigenous students studying full-time at the University of Toronto on the basis of financial need and Ontario residency. Individual bursaries will vary in value depending on the need of the candidate. Aboriginal students enrolled in the Transitional Year Programme, undergraduate and graduate level programs and second entry studies will all be eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate a contribution to the Aboriginal community through volunteerism and involvement with First Nations House and/or Native Student?s Association. 

The Mackenzie King Open Scholarship is awarded based on academic merit to an applicant who has a degree from a Canadian university and is pursuing graduate studies in any discipline, within Canada or elsewhere.
