Nikan Movahedi

Biography

Nikan Movahedi

My name is Nikan Movahedi and I am a second-year Honours Kinesiology and Health Science student at York University. I was born in Tehran, Iran, and later moved to Canada when I was nine years old. In my free time, I enjoy relaxing and watching TV shows, swimming, and learning new languages. From very early on in my life, I developed a fascination with vision and the human brain. At the start of my post-secondary education, I combined my interest in visual neuroscience, studying symmetry processing in the human visual cortex.

Through the Amgen Scholar’s program, I am excited about the opportunity to learn more about oncogenesis and the specific molecular and genetic processes that contribute to cancer proliferation and invasion. Through this amazing opportunity, I hope not only to develop a more holistic understanding of post-graduate studies but also to network with experts and like-minded peers.
