GPSN Identify, Assist, Refer+ (IAR+) Workshop

The Graduate Peer Support Network (GPSN) at UofT is offering an Identify, Assist, Refer+ (IAR+) workshop. IAR+ is a companion workshop to the Identify, Assist, Refer (IAR) online training. Participants practice supporting individuals with mental health challenges through tailored case studies, boundary activities and role-play.

Date and time: Thursday, April 28, 2022, 12-1:30pm

Please register here

In this two-hour workshop, we will:

  • Provide an overview of IAR in Q&A style,
  • Present three tailored case studies for participants to resolve using the Identify, Assist, Refer approach. Each case study will include an escalation scenario that touches upon urgent situations and suicidal ideation.
  • Encourage participants to assess and reflect on their level of comfort with applying each step and following their reporting protocol as a way to learn their boundaries and limitations.
  • Prompt participants to practice their learning in small group peer-to-peer discussions. And,
  • Provide an opportunity to debrief and ask questions.

Completion of the IAR module is recommended but not mandatory to attend our IAR+ workshop. The IAR training module can be found here

Please feel free to reach out to us (gpsn.utoronto@gmail.com) if you have any questions or concerns.
