Why Faculty of Medicine: The University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine has an established international reputation for its accomplishments in research and medicine, with world renown scientists and researchers alike. As result, the environment bolsters innovation and space for personal growth for all its students. I feel extraordinarily lucky to have joined this faculty.

Why this Department: Since my first introduction to physiology during my undergraduate degree, I fell in love with the subject along with the department. I knew following graduation that I wanted to continue my career down this field, as well as existing connections with other graduate students, the department of Physiology was the perfect fit for me.

Current Research Experience: Investigate the effects of TG100-115 on TRPM7 kinase activity and by extension, the malignant characteristics of U87 GBM cells, defined by changes to cell viability, migration, and invasion. Exploring the therapeutic potential of TG100-115 in GBM. I am currently working in Dr. Hong-Shuo Sun’s lab in the Medical Sciences building at the University of Toronto.

Future Education Plans and/or Career Goals: In the future, I hope to continue researching and contribute to our understanding of physiology and the basis of disease. Additionally, to aid in science communications and making science as a whole more accessible and understandable to all populations.
