Dr. Cindy Woodland, recipient of a 2024 Graduate Faculty Teaching Award in Sustained Excellence in Teaching and Mentorship.

Dr. Cindy Woodland completed her PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Toronto and followed her career goal of enhancing pharmacology and toxicology education by joining the Department of Pharmacology in 2000. Along her journey to full professor in the teaching stream, Dr. Woodland developed several courses, academic programs, and student-focused learning opportunities. She currently teaches in the undergraduate, graduate, and MD programs and has held leadership roles in each of these areas. Dr. Woodland served as the Education Chair for the Canadian Society for Clinical Pharmacology (2006 – 2008) and the Canadian Society of Pharmacology & Therapeutics (2011 – 2020).

She is the inaugural director of both the Applied Clinical Pharmacology (ACP) course-based master’s program and the Collaborative Specialization in Toxicology (CST). An award-winning teacher, Dr. Woodland has research interests in novel technologies and pedagogical approaches. She fosters career networks and encourages learners to make the most of their educational journey.
