I was born in Manila, Philippines, but was raised in Toronto, ON. I'm entering my final year of undergraduate studies in microbiology, statistics, and global health, here at the University of Toronto. I care about knowledge translation, education, and rigorous science. Particularly, I'm passionate about infectious disease research, with a special interest in emerging viral threats.

From my lived experiences, I witnessed a connection between social injustice and emerging infectious diseases. I have seen the toll these diseases can take on some of the world's most underserved populations, and my will to make a positive impact on their lives solidified my resolve to pursue a career in infectious disease.

With such aspirations in mind, I've had the privilege of working under Dr. Samira Mubareka at Sunnybrook Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic, on various projects pertaining to SARS-CoV-2 transmission, surveillance, and host responses. Since first year, I've also been fortunate to work under Dr. Danielle Bentley, testing the efficacy of novel teaching methods in anatomy as I too would love to teach and run my own courses one day!
