Why Temerty Faculty of Medicine:
As an alumnus of the master of health informatics program at the University of Toronto I had previous direct exposure to the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. To obtain my PhD through the IMS within the faculty of medicine was a no-brainer given the world class faculty including innovative research and scientists, and its global reputation and esteem. These pillars are aligned closely with my personal aim to train as a clinician scientist at the University of Toronto.

Why this Department:
The multidisciplinary profile of the IMS student body was very attractive to me, and has afforded unprecedented exposure to network and collaborate with fellow graduate biomedical students. The IMS presented a unique platform for me to develop a project that aligns closely with my background and experience in healthcare and clinical quality improvement.

Current Research
My research and quality improvement project aims to evaluate the acceptability, usability, and feasibility of a set of multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) models to support decision making for hospital products within deliberative value analysis processes. I have experience with mixed methods research in health studies, including conducting, coding, and analyzing semi-structured interviews, developing proposals and protocols, acquiring ethics approvals, and writing and publishing within the academic literature.

Future Education Plans:
I am passionate about healthcare and though I have spent a considerable amount of time in academia, I do not anticipate my journey will conclude with my PhD. I have begun application preparation for, and intend to pursue, medical school, ideally at the University of Toronto, after completing my PhD. I aspire to pursue a clinical career either in family medicine or as a general internist, and I would like to devote a considerable part of my practice to the provision of care in marginalized communities. I would also like to teach medicine and health sciences.
