Samantha Z. Yammine was honoured to be named on Toronto Life Magazine's Top 50 list of most influential people in Toronto for 2021 for her science communication work on social media.  She has put her heart and soul and brain into trying to make the science of Covid a little less over-whelming. It's definitely been the most challenging and fulfilling work she has done to date, but she is really grateful to all the people who trusted her enough to learn alongside her  through the many formats of social media. She joked that her unofficial tagline the past year and a half has been "science information by and for anxious people" ... it hasn't been easy for any of us, but she is grateful for the kind messages + feedback that help her improve and keep going. Number one on the list (and in our hearts!!) was the VERY deserving Vaccine Hunters Canada 🙌🏼 . It was so nice getting to meet members of their volunteer team who worked tirelessly to help Canadians find vaccine appointments this year. And they're back up and running for boosters + pediatric vaccines so check em out! Also got to mingle with folks like Dr. Isaac Bogoch, Dr. Roberta Timothy, Dr. Tara Kiran, Dr. Irfan Dhalla, and Dr. Andrew Boozary — so many whose work she admired over the last year and a half. It was amazing to see so many scientists and doctors on the list, and there were also awesome entrepreneurs, game-changing actors like Simu Liu, decorated athletes like Penny Oleksiak, and important leaders like Jesse Wente.
