Why Temerty Faculty of Medicine:
I have always been passionate about healthcare research. I’ve been particularly passionate about being able to use my knowledge of biology and physics to address outstanding current issues in the field. Working in a research field with the ‘human’ aspect that is healthcare is both humbling and motivating.

Why this Department:
This department in particular allows me to bridge my love for biology (realized through my undergraduate degree in neuroscience) with my aptitude for physics and math. The department is versatile in that it provides students with the opportunity to rotate with different labs in the first few months to feel out the best fit for graduate studies.

Current Research Experience:
To date, I’ve worked in four research labs. In my undergraduate studies, I was privileged to work in a biological chemistry lab, a bio-organic chemistry lab, and a computational neuroimaging lab. For my graduate studies, I work in an MRI clinical physics lab, where the focus is on combining simulations with in vivo data to address outstanding questions in the field of MRI. I’ve been able to talk in an international conference and have contributed findings to the scientific literature.

Future Education Plans and/or Career Goals:
My goal is to continue applying my research passion in whatever career I pursue. I am aiming to build my resume in a way that makes me a possible candidate for various fields: academia, medical science liaison, medical physicist, PI.
