UofTCoders Software Carpentries Workshop

University of Toronto Coders (https://uoftcoders.github.io/) is hosting a hands-on two-day Software Carpentry workshop covering core small research team skills. Through short tutorials and practical exercises, attendees will learn:

* Automating tasks with the Unix Shell
* Version control with Git
* Programming with R

These are foundational lessons, you do not need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop.

When: Tuesdays May 18 and 25th, 9 am - 5 pm
Where: Online
Cost: $25, register here

Requirements: Participants have a laptop/desktop with a Mac, Linux, or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc.) that they have administrative privileges on. Software installation directions will be sent out a week in advance of the workshop.

Directions: Our sessions will be held at MADLab in Gerstein Science Information Centre, Room B112 at the south end of the first lower level.

Go through the main entrance of Gerstein, take a right turn down a corridor (across from the admin desk or just past the reading room), then take the stairs down and follow the signs to MADLab, the door should be open 10-15 minutes before each lesson.

Session notes: notes are posted in the lessons folder on GitHub, usually a day or two before events or shortly after events.
