MBPCDA Career Seminar
The Medical Biophysics Career Development Association is honoured to host Wayne Lee, Executive Director of Research Operations at SickKids, for an in-person career seminar: From Academia to Clinical Leadership and Back. The seminar will take place in the PMCRT seminar room on the 4th floor (room 4-204) on Thursday February 9th from 5:00 to 6:00PM.
Director Lee’s Biography:
After completing an engineering degree in Systems Design at Waterloo University, Wayne earned an MSc at the Department of Medical Biophysics before starting his career at the SickKids Research Institute in 2008. Initially tasked with developing MRI and data analysis techniques, his work grew to support multicenter studies and the diagnostic imaging department. In the mid-2010s Wayne’s involvement expanded to include procurement of a new MRI scanner and infrastructure planning. In 2017, Wayne left both academia and imaging to support strategic projects in hospital operations. This opened the door to his successful candidacy as the Clinical Director of Diagnostic Imaging in 2018. In this role, he led the team through many challenges including a new EMR, a leadership reorganization, and a global pandemic. Wayne returned to research in 2022 as the Executive Director, where he oversees the entirety of Research Operations.
