Current Research:
Neurons are one of the most specialized cell types in the human body and their proper development determines all of the functions of the central nervous system including learning and memory, cognition and movement. My research currently follows two directions. First, it aims to address the knowledge gaps in the molecular mechanisms of neuronal development by focusing on the roles of the ion channels belonging to a family of Transient Receptor Potentials or TRPs. Second, it focuses on the development of new therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative conditions by using TRP channels as pharmacological targets.

Why Faculty of Medicine?
I chose the Faculty of Medicine because of its international reputation and unparalleled breadth of research. Here you would have many opportunities to create multidisciplinary collaborations to take your research to the next level.

Future education plans and/or Career Goals:
I am currently considering both academic and non-academic options including post-doctoral studies and opportunities in pharma, biotech and business.
